In recent decades, Doctors of Optometry have expanded their skill set, knowledge base, and competencies, leading to specialization in specific areas of practice. This has resulted in improved and enriched patient outcomes and experiences for optometric patients across Canada. The CCSO is proud to be one of the driving forces behind this transformation in health care quality metrics. 

Supported by Canada’s two schools of optometry and Canada’s optometric regulators, the CCSO awards Fellowship designation, FCCSO, and Specialist designation, CCSO(S), to qualifying Doctors of Optometry using evidence-informed standards.
